Mission RHUMI-2024: India's First Reusable Hybrid Rocket Takes Flight.


In a moment that reverberated across Chennai's skyline, Mission RHUMI-2024 soared into the azure expanse. Orchestrated by Space Zone India and Martin Group, this launch marks India's debut in reusable hybrid rocket technology.

Key Highlights:

The Rocket:RHUMI-1, a single-piece marvel standing 3.5 meters tall and weighing approximately 80 kilograms, combines liquid oxidiser and solid fuel propellant systems

Mission Director:Over 5,000 students from across India and the UAE actively participated in the program, plus witnessed the historic launch live from the grounds of Thiruvidanthai, Tamil Nadu

Mission Mentor:Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, the former ISRO Satellite Centre Director (ISAC), provided mentorship during the mission. Together, they steered RHUMI-1 toward success, emphasising collaboration and innovation. His words echoed with pride: "Rocket science can be taught in schools too."

Meyyanathan (Honourable Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Tamil Nadu), Mr. Jose Charles Martin (Managing Director- Martin Group), Dr.(Rtn) Leema Rose Martin (Director- Martin Group), Dr.V. Ranganathan (Former Deputy Director Satish Dhawan Space Centre), SS. Balaji (MLA- Thiruporur Constituency – TN), Shri. CG. Karhadkar (Director- Indra Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research- Kalpakkam), Shri. AS. Rajan (IPS Retd, Former Special Director IB) all graced their presence and spoke about the impact on space education and students participation.
