After gaining freedom in 1947, the makers of our Indian Constitution granted equal rights to both men and women. But, the reality is anything but this. Due to the lack of infrastructure or proper resources, gender disparities have always been prevalent in the country. When we talk about gender inequality, it’s always the women who tend to face the repercussions and are excluded from the important decisions of the country.

Though necessary steps are being taken to bridge the gap and transform India into a women’s equitable society, we are still far from reaching our goal. While some women get opportunities and exposure to do big things in life, other women spend their life depending on the male members of their families.

Martin Charitable Trust is dedicated to uplifting women and providing them with the rights they have been devoid of. There are numerous women NGOs in and around Coimbatore that are focused on the mission of making a difference and creating a women’s equitable society.

Here’s a list of women NGOs that are dedicated to uplifting women.

Agni Foundation

Established in 2009, Agni Foundation is an NGO working primarily towards women empowerment and development. Located in Coimbatore, the NGO has taken numerous steps towards a better future for women in India. These include conducting awareness campaigns, and training sessions for women. The NGO also sponsors the education of orphan kids.

Coimbatore Multipurpose Social Service Society

Established in 1966, the NGO is primarily situated in Coimbatore, Dindigul, and Palakkad. CMSSS is devoted to fulfilling the needs of the socially and economically disadvantaged people in these three districts.

The NGO is focused on eliminating poverty and bringing a change in the various areas of decision-making. The NGO is making strides toward creating a self-reliant and self-sustaining platform for women.

Good Shepherd Health Education Centre

Located in Coimbatore, the NGO is working towards the upliftment of downtrodden people by organizing various programs.

One of the most known women NGOs in Chennai, Good Shepherd Health Education Centre focuses on rural development with the main focus on women and children. They organize activities in the field of social empowerment, economic empowerment, literacy programs, and political empowerment.

Kovai Auxilium Salesian Sisters Society

Established in 1996, the women’s NGO works mainly in the areas of Child and Youth Development. The NGO has undertaken numerous programs including creating rehabilitation homes for street and abandoned girl children, awareness activities for women and children, evening study centres for girl children, rehabilitation homes for women in distress, etc.

Society For Education, Empowerment, And Development

Headquartered in Coimbatore, SEED is here to empower the socially, educationally, and economically disadvantaged communities via training and education. This Women’s NGO mainly deals in the field of children and youth, community development, and education.

Native Medicare Charitable Trust

Located in Coimbatore, NMCT is a non-profit organization founded with a mission to provide quality education to underprivileged children to improve their lives and give them opportunities to excel in life. The NGO also uplifts women by teaching them new skills in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry, forest management, etc.

Martin Charitable Trust

The NGO has solely been formed to bridge the gap between the rich and poor, the privileged and the disadvantaged. Located in Coimbatore, MCT provides world-class education to underprivileged girl children and trains women for vocational jobs. The NGO has also funded numerous government schools and colleges and sponsored many underprivileged children.
