Contribution of ration kits to help poor families fight hunger during Covid-19


Mr. Santiago Martin, Founder, Martin Group of Companies, Chennai, has consistently contributed towards the improvement of the socio-economic situation of the Indian subcontinent by bridging the gap between the rich and the poor.In addition, Santiago Martin formed the Martin Charitable Trust to help the underprivileged and needy section of our society.

In order to alleviate the COVID-19 crisis among labour workers, daily wages workers, and people belonging to the poor and vulnerable population, Martin Charitable Trust contributed several donations of dry ration kits and other essential items to several poor families of Tamil Nadu, who were struggling in COVID-19 during the years 2020 and 2021.

Let’s have a look at some of such contributions that were done to help Tamil Nadu people fight hunger during the deadly crisis.

1) Martin Charitable Trust Provided Rice, Sugar, Vegetables, and other essential grocery items for the needy people affected badly by the COVID-19 lockdown on 07-04-2020 at 11 A.M in Pollachi.

2) Rtn. Dr. AKS. Leema Rose Martin, the Managing Trustee, Martin Charitable Trust, provided 200 Kgs of Rice to the needy people who were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The contribution was made as 5 Kg packs to 40 families who were in need at Subramaniam Palayam, G. N. Mills, Coimbatore on 10-4-2020 at 5:30 P.M.

3) Rtn. Dr. AKS. Leema Rose Martin, the Managing Trustee, Martin Charitable Trust, provided 1000 Kgs of Rice packs to the people working as public scavengers who were badly affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The contribution was made as 5 Kg pack to 200 scavengers on 11-4-2020 at 12:00 P.M at Martin Homoeopathy Medical College and Hospital, G. N. Mills, Coimbatore.

4) Martin Charitable Trust provided 750 Kgs of Rice to the needy people who were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The contribution was made as 5 Kg packs each to 150 people on 09-5-2020 at Mylapore, Chennai.

5) Martin Charitable Trust provided 1750 Kgs of Rice to the needy people who were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The contribution was made as 5 Kg packs each to 350 people on 10-5-2020 at S. Uduppam, in Namakkal District.

6) Martin Charitable Trust provided 600 Kgs of Rice to the needy people who were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The contribution was made at Government High School, as 5 Kg packs to 150 people of Poothalur Village in presence of VAO, President, Vice President and Ward Members of Poothalur Village, Kankeyanpatti, Thanjavur District.

7) Martin Charitable Trust provided 2500 Kgs of Rice to the needy people who were affected by the COVID-19 lockdown. The contribution was made as 5 Kg packs to 500 families in need at Saravanampatti, Subramaniyampalayam, G.N.mills Post, Udayampalayam area, Coimbatore.

8) Rtn. Dr. AKS. Leema Rose Martin, the Managing Trustee, Martin Charitable Trust, Coimbatore along with Father. Jesudass donated relief materials of rice and other provisions for three villages - Settiyapatti Village, Nepiyapatti Village, Mukaanipatti village in Pudukkottai District of Tamil Nadu during COVID-19 lockdown.

Apart from this, a sum of Rs.25,000/- was also given to 50 families (Rs. 500 per family). Rs.500/- per family.
